Sony Xperia Z4 vs Samsung Galaxy S6- Battle of the titans!

An inevitable comparison

Comparisons between smartphones are always fun; even more so when the participants are the flagship releases of two of the most celebrated mobile phone manufacturers of this decade. Samsung and Sony never cease to amazes its million strong user base across the world with innovative features, sleek designs, attractive prices and quick releases. The stage is finally set for two of its flagship models to hit the market soon. It is only fair that we dedicate this column to compare these two models that might well be the benchmark for many a models to come.

Walking the Design

Samsung is all set to present the Galaxy S6 in a never-seen-before style. If the leaked info from the Samsung factory is to be believed, we may finally see the cheap plastic casing make way for front and back panels made of glass. The exact dimensions of this model are going to somewhere around 5.64 x 2.79 x 0.27 inches (143.3 x 70.81 x 6.9 mm). So we are going to witness a Galaxy model sleeker and thinner than its predecessors.

Xperia Z4

Now, let’s see how the Xperia Z4 holds up to this incredible challenge.  Pretty much like a champion model, we ought to say! For starters, Sony has been pulling off amazing designs, sometimes even better than this one, for years. The Xperia Z4 keeps up with legacy down to its very edges. With both the models featuring water proof and dust proof capabilities, there is no clear winner in this department.

Brilliant Display

The Galaxy S6 flaunts a 5.1-inch AMOLED display with 1440x2560 resolutions. This Quad-HD AMOLED display has been a winner for the Samsung family and hence is touted to win the 2015's best 2K display on a smartphone hands down!
The Xperia Z4 is not too far away with its 5.2-inch panel. It has been said that this phone will support 10809 and 1440 p resolution, depending on the markets. But even with its best efforts, its difficult imagining Sony catching up with Samsung in this department.

The Interface

TouchWiz, the Android manufacturer skin hasn’t been in the news for exactly good reasons. However, it has slowly made the evolution from being a drab, lag feature to a competitive one. We will have to wait and see how much of a bearing this would have on the Galaxy S6.
Sony’s Xperia UI, although not by any measure incredible, is however devoid of the negative criticisms Android faces. It is a decent skin that does the job well. Add to this a few sensible functionalities that make the integration to the smartphone pretty effectively and you have a winner.

Processor specifications and memory

The Samsung Galaxy S6 will be featuring its ingeniousocta-core Exynos 7420 processor rather than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 processor. Lab tests have been encouraging and let’s hope that will transform into the phone as well. There are talks about Samsung’s ace fast flash memory being used in this model, which if it’s true, can be a game changer in every sense of the word.
Sony Xperia Z4 will continue with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 processor along with 3GB of RAM for the 1080p variant. The 1440p one will feature a 4GB RAM making it extremely competitive. We hope LG G4 also come with same processor.

As one can see, both these models flaunt mind boggling features and cutting-edge technologies, making it a really daunting task choosing the right one.
